A graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and Georgetown University, Dr. Bilowus formerly served as Chief of Section of Urology at the Reston Hospital Center. Today, he operates a private practice in conjunction with Virginia HIFU, which is in the Reston Hospital Center. He is known around the world as an authority in the field of urology, with publications in prestigious journals like the Journal of Urology.

Upon completion of his training, Dr. Bilowus received certification from the American Board of Urology in 1990. He later was recertified in 1997 and 2008. He also holds membership with several associations and societies, including the American Cancer Association, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity, Fairfax County Medical Society, Virginia State Medical Society, Southern Medical Association, Washington Urological Society, Virginia Urological Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Bilowus is affiliated with the Inova Fairfax Hospital, Invoa Fair Oaks Hospital, Potomac Hospital, and Reston Hospital Center. In 2009, Dr. Bilowus was awarded the Presidency of the Virginia Urological Society.
Dr. Bilowus regularly adds to the medical field by participating in continuing education programs and maintaining a knowledge of technologies and innovations available in urology. Recently he has attended training on High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy Therapy, Cryotherapy and the Medtronic Prostiva System.
